NICU Visiting Guidelines

We encourage parents to visit 24/7, as long as possible. Parents must be present in the room at 6:45 AM/6:45 PM or will be asked to wait until after shift report.

Hours for alternate caregivers as designated by parents are between 8:00 AM – 6:45 PM and 8:00 PM – 6:45 AM.

All other visitors must be accompanied by a parent between 8:00 AM – 6:45 PM and 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Sibling visits are limited to 20 minutes.

During cold and flu season, please note that only visitors/siblings 13 years and older are allowed to enter the NICU.

Please wash your hands thoroughly when you enter the NICU. Please remove all hand jewelry and wash up to your elbows for 1 minute.

Please turn off your cell phone before entering the NICU, if you must use it please step out of the baby’s room.

We may limit the number of visitors at the bedside because of space or other circumstances.

Please do not visit if you are ill. If there are special circumstances please check with the baby’s nurse.

There are no overnight accommodations available in our NICU’s multi-patient rooms. Valley Children’s Hospital offers RV parking with hookups on the east side of campus. Arrangements can be made through security services or your baby’s social workers.

Ronald McDonald house is open to families, with priority given to those who live outside the Fresno/Madera area. For more information call patient and family services at (559)353-5270.
