Kevin Shimamoto joined Valley Children’s Hospital in 2014 as Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO), where he played a vital role in aligning the hospital's biomedical, information and security departments with the organization's strategic objectives.

During his tenure as CIO, Kevin gained valuable insights into the hospital's operations and strategic goals, allowing him to provide valuable guidance and support in his current position as Vice President and Advisor to the Chief Information Officer. With a strong background in executive IT leadership and a deep understanding of healthcare electronic medical record (EMR) systems, including his connections with industry-leading vendors like Epic and Meditech, he has established himself as a trusted and influential figure in the healthcare IT landscape.

Throughout his career, Kevin has held various senior executive positions in IT, showcasing his versatility and effectiveness in managing complex technological environments. He is widely recognized and respected as an IT leader, not only within Valley Children's Hospital, but also across the region. Kevin actively participates in professional organizations such as the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), the Hospital Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), and the Children's Hospital Association (CHA), which represents 220 children’s hospitals nationally. His recent appointment to the Baxter Healthcare Product Advisory Board further exemplifies his industry involvement and influence.

Kevin's educational background includes an Associate of Science degree in Electronics from Reedley College in Reedley, California. He further pursued his academic aspirations and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology from California State University, Fresno. Recognizing the importance of continuous learning, he went on to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from National University in San Diego, California.

Outside of his professional commitments, Kevin finds relaxation and fulfillment in various activities. He has a passion for farming, appreciating the connection with nature and the satisfaction of tending to the land. In addition, he enjoys playing golf, cycling and weight training, which contribute to his overall well-being and serve as outlets for personal growth and balance.
