Neurocutaneous Syndromes Clinic

Valley Children’s Neurocutaneous Syndromes Clinic, part of our Neuroscience Center, provides patients and their families access to a variety of pediatric specialists in one place and one visit who can help develop a personalized care plan.

A Team of Pediatric Neurocutaneous Specialists in One Visit

Neurocutaneous syndromes are disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, organs, skin and bones. These diseases are lifelong conditions and can change as your child develops. Our Neurocutaneous Syndromes Clinic team evaluates and cares for children with these complex and uncommon genetic conditions, such as neurofibromatosis, Sturge-Weber syndrome and tuberous sclerosis. Together, our team of experts create a personalized care plan for your child as they grow and develop.

Our dedicated team includes experts in pediatric neurology, neuro-oncology, neuropsychology, genetics, ophthalmology and dermatology. This collaborative team ensures your child is getting the specific and exact treatment needed. We share standards of care for neurocutaneous syndromes and then make medical and developmental recommendations for each patient. Opportunities to enroll in clinical trials may also be available.

What To Expect During Your Neurocutaneous Syndromes Clinic Visit

Your child’s first visit will include a thorough evaluation with the clinic’s pediatric nurse practitioner or physician and a genetic counselor. We will discuss the natural history of the condition, common complications and any implications for learning and behavior. These appointments are also an opportunity to get any questions answered.
