Every day is different. Every child is unique. At Valley Children’s, kids are our world. We care for thousands of children 24 hours a day, seven days a week while the pediatric healthcare needs of our area consistently grow and change.
As the only dedicated pediatric facility in this part of the state, it is our responsibility to serve as the leader in children’s healthcare and to be at the forefront advocating for our kids and the issues that affect them.
Our task is significant. Over 1.3 million children live in the region Valley Children’s serves from Los Angeles to the Bay Area. Currently, we treat about 125,000 patients a year – meaning about one in every 10 children in our service area comes through our doors seeking hope and healing. Whether a newborn suffers a significant congenital defect, or a teenager becomes newly diagnosed with leukemia, our priority is to deliver safe, high-quality care for ill and injured children around the clock.
Various people, services and technologies make this possible. Valley Children’s boasts more than 670 physicians and provides highly specialized medical and surgical services to treat conditions ranging from common to the most unusual and complex. From state-of-the-art imaging and the latest protocols for pediatric cancer treatment, to pediatric subspecialists, pediatric nurses, dietitians, respiratory care therapists, and more who are trained in treating children and their specific healthcare needs, we ensure our kids receive only the best.

An Increasing Need for Philanthropic Support
In recent years, Valley Children's has experienced a significant increase in the demand for services. With the busiest emergency department in California for patients under age 21, the number of patients we see in our ED has grown dramatically – from about 67,000 patient visits in 2010 to nearly 100,000 patient visits in 2014. Valley Children’s now performs more than 12,000 surgeries each year and our Maternal Fetal Center has treated more than 14,000 moms since opening in 2010.
To keep pace with this demand, Valley Children’s has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in securing the newest technology and equipment, and developing the most highly-skilled and compassionate team of professionals – all with a singular vision to provide the nation’s best healthcare for kids.
